Ezra Jesse Bookman
Ezra Jesse Bookman works at our partner organization Lab/Shul. Raised by a Rabbi and Jewish educator in Miami Florida, he grew up surrounded by passionate and creative expressions of Judaism. He is is excited to bring this energy to our community, creating fresh engaging pathways with which to experience the joy of Jewish life. Ezra earned his B.F.A in Theater Studies at Southern Methodist University where he was awarded the prestigious Meadows Scholar Award. He works as a director, playwright, poet, actor, and performance artist. At Shmita ArtFest he created a piece called
Pr(essence) - he walked around Nolan Park 6 times...in slow motion...over 6 hours. He wrote beforehand, 'I've never attempted anything like this before and am pretty terrified, which as an artist usually means you're on the right track.'
