Michal Berman
Michal Berman was born in Haifa, Israel to an American mother and an Israeli father. She graduated from SUNY Purchase college with a BFA in Painting and Drawing. She made aliyah to Israel as a lone soldier and served as a shooting instructor for Infantry troops in the IDF. Michal continued drawing and painting throughout her army career. After her service she worked and traveled. “Israel always remained a source of inspiration and balance for me even when things were tense politically and my family worried about me. I feel that the culture and history teach and embrace me. Much of my art is a continuous journey of my daily life in Israel, and the people I meet and learn to love.”
Michal currently started her Art Therapy Masters degree at Haifa University, Israel. “My goal as a future therapist and artist is to help people through art, and to communicate a feeling of home. Home to me is both the USA and Israel. At Art Kibbutz I will explore themes of identity, home, Israel, religion, and humanity within my art.”
