WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Art Kibbutz is looking for emerging and established artists of exceptional talent, a multi-generational, multi-disciplinary group of artists from the US as well as abroad, especially from Russia and Israel. Our approach to the “Jewish connection” of participants is based more on affiliation and interest than ethno-national background. We are working with artists, who want to make “Jewish art” and “Jewish history” their own and teach it to the world, ex. developing art projects for our 2nd Shofar Flashmob in September 2012 – more information: www.shofarflashmob.org. In 2011 more than 500 artists and creative volunteers participated in our global project with 30,000+ in audience. Art Kibbutz is unaffiliated with any Jewish movements, organizations or political sensibilities – the religious freedom of the artists will be protected throughout the program.
The Experience
At this residency during the day artists could work free of the constraints of the art world and existential stress on any Jewish topic of their interest. Art Kibbutz balances concentrated, productive work time in an amazing environment with the stimulation of cultural exchange, Jewish learning and communal events, including Shabbat experiences, cocktail parties, presentation opportunities, visits from prominent Jewish scholars and artists, sunset musical performances, as well as two delicious kosher meals a day for 2 weeks up to 3 months.
AIDS Memorial Garden
We are looking to create a memorial garden for those affected by AIDS. This summer you could plant a garden; engage in dialogue about Jewish responses to AIDS and HIV; and explore connections between the Holocaust and the AIDS epidemic in the eighties.
Eligibility
This residency is open to creative professionals from many disciplines including but not limited to: Music, Photography/Video, Painting, Sculpture, Installation, Mixed Media, Drawing, Watercolor, Performing Arts, Dance, Song Writing and Poetry, Fiction Writing, Film, Culinary Arts and Gardening. Artists should be ready to engage with a Jewish topic and the community.
Residency Accommodations

1) Private Single Room with shared studio/kitchen/living room – $1,800 per session including meals and programs.
2) Double or Triple Room with shared studio/kitchen/living room – $1,200 per session including meals and programs.
